Kannada and Hindi actress Nidhi Subbaiah believes she has ADD (attention deficit disorder), at least as far as some aspects of work are concerned. It’s a diagnosis she has come up with, given that very often, during script narrations, she loses interest after a while and completely zones out. “I think I have slept through narrations with my eyes wide open,” says the actress, a tad amused. With her next release, Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana, though, Nidhi says that it was a totally different experience.

When she was approached for the role, Nidhi met director Samarth B Kadkol at his office and had a narration spanning at least an hour and a half, a time in which, she swears, she was all ears throughout. “I was eager to know what next at every twist and turn of the tale. By the end of it, it seemed like a big deal that I was so engrossed in the narration from start-to-finish. If it’s that interesting at the script level, it will definitely translate onscreen too,” says Nidhi.

The actress adds that she could feel how honest and passionate Samarth is about doing good cinema and not like many others who are just mechanically churning out routine stuff just for the money. The story apart, the fact that she would be reunited with her debut hero, Diganth, with whom Nidhi did Pancharangi 14 years ago, was also a major draw for her.

“Diganth is one of the most secure actors I have worked with and that’s why he’s such a good friend. I can discuss just about everything with him and not just cinema. He’s evolved into such a good actor despite the accidents he’s had. I guess the fact that he’s a good person also reflects. You will know what I am talking about when you watch Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana,” Nidhi says.

With only days to go for the release of the film, Nidhi remains tight-lipped about the story and her role in it, but maintains that it is pivotal to the narrative. OTTplay tried asking her if she is one of the 4 people that Diganth’s character is accused of murdering, but that, she says is for audiences to figure out on June 13.
