Editor Marthand K Venkatesh: Sarkaru Vaari Paata is a bigger, massier film than Pokiri

In an industry where diplomacy is appreciated more than forthrightness, editor Marthand K Venkatesh minces no words while talking about films he works in. His next major release is Mahesh Babu's Sarkaru Vaari Paata, directed by Parasuram Petla, on May 12. Ahead of the release, the technician in a chat with the media opened up on what could audiences expect from the action entertainer, which wrapped its shoot only recently.

Reportedly, director Parasuram narrated to him the story of Sarkaru Vaari Paata right during the editing stages of Geetha Govindam and he liked it immensely. "I told him it would be a super hit right away. Having worked so long in films, I know what's the line that separates a hit from a superhit. Sarkaru Vaari Paata is a story that everyone would identify with and has ample commercial elements to click with the masses," he said.

The editor stated that Sarkaru Vaari Paata will be a welcome departure from Parasuram's comfort zone i.e. family dramas and feel-good romances. Having edited Pokiri in the past, one can be assured that Sarkaru Vaari Paata will be bigger than the former in terms of content and mass elements, Marthand K Venkatesh opined. He found Mahesh Babu to be more charming in the movie than Pokiri and called the action entertainer a potpourri of emotion, action, romance and humour.

Apparently, when the editor had watched the rushes of Sarkaru Vaari.., he was already confident of its success. While the first half will make you laugh with the comedy track between the hero and heroine, there's enough emotion and action in the latter half for the masses, the technician mentioned. Sarkaru Vaari Paata merits a big-screen experience and will be a festival-like film for his fans, he added.

He is all praise for the writer in Parasuram and his ability to write good dialogues, and come up with unique characterisation. "There'll be a lot of fun in Mahesh Babu's character, I haven't come across anything like that in recent times," Marthand K Venkatesh shared. In a career of over 450 films, Sarkaru Vaari Paata is the fifth film with Mahesh Babu for Marthand K Venkatesh, the earlier films being Rajakumarudu, Takkari Donga, Pokiri and Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. 

Summing up his long career, he said that age has little to do with staying in the film industry. "A good film has nothing to do with any particular generation. The experiences from the past help us tell stories even better. For making a successful film, a director must have a good relationship with the editor. More arguments lead to better results," he signed off. His upcoming projects include Chiranjeevi's Godfather, Bhola Shankar and Samantha's Yashoda.
