Nadirshah's most recent directorial comes in the form of Eesho, a film that has already seen its fair share of controversy even before its release. The film was announced to be a direct-to-OTT release, and the makers have recently unveiled the platform on which the film will release.

Eesho will be released on SonyLIV, although a release date for the same is yet to be announced. The film was reportedly sold to the platform for a record amount. Eesho is touted to be a thriller film with most of its sequences being shot at night time. The film was shot in Kochi and Dubai.

Jayasurya stars as the lead in the film, which also features Namitha Pramod, Jaffer Idukki and Salim Kumar in prominent roles. Suneesh Varanad has written the film’s script.

The upcoming film had courted controversy over its title, which refers to Jesus in Malayalam. Addressing the issue, Nadirshah had emphasised that the film’s title was not in reference to Jesus, but was the name of a character from the same. The director removed the film’s earlier tagline ‘not from the Bible’, after the backlash. The title of the film, however, was not changed. The filmmaker’s previous directorial, Kesu Ee Veedinte Nadhan, was also a subject of controversy over its title. The film, starring Dileep and Urvashi, was also a direct-to-OTT release, premiering on Disney+ Hotstar.

Meanwhile, Jayasurya was last seen in the film Sunny, which was also a direct-to-OTT release, premiering on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Ranjith Sankar, Sunny marked the actor’s 100th film. The actor also has another upcoming release in the form of John Luther. Written and directed by debutant Abhijith Joseph, the makers released the trailer recently, featuring Jayasurya as a police officer. Siddique, Tanvi Ram, Aditi Ravi, Deepak Parambol and Indrans also star in John Luther in pivotal roles.
