The makers of Ek Villain Returns, the highly-anticipated sequel to Mohit Suri’s 2014 thriller Ek Villain, released the movie’s trailer yesterday. While the trailer has received a lot of love from fans and celebrities, a lot of comments have been targeted at Arjun Kapoor and his transformation in the movie.

The actor has now opened up about his physical transformation for the sequel, and has thanked all his critics, haters, and trolls for motivating him for what he has achieved.

As reported by the Times of India, Kapoor said that he is thrilled with the love the movie’s trailer has received and that it has been a long road for him to achieve a transformation he is proud of. He added that it was difficult because of his health issues and thanked everyone for their encouragement.

"I understand that everyone criticised me at one time. They didn’t know what I was going through. I didn’t reveal too much. But their feedback motivated me to bounce back. So, to everyone who trolled me, who criticised me, who hated me, I say thank you," Arjun said.

The actor further added that he used this energy to transform himself and that he will always be a "work in progress" and will keep coming back for more.

The trailer for Ek Villain Returns starts off with a throwback to the first movie and its villain, played by Riteish Deshmukh, before it reveals another such serial killer in the sequel. The sequel also shows John Abraham and Kapoor going head to head as they throw punches at each other.

Apart from Arjun and John Abraham, the sequel also features Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani. Directed by Mohit Suri, Ek Villain Returns is set to hit theatres on July 29.
