Some villains’ sagas are hard to keep buried and Ek Villain Returns seems to be a testament to just that. As promised, the makers of the film have unveiled its trailer, and it promises a chilling story filled with action, love, loss and vengeance.
The trailer starts off with a nod to Ek Villain(2014), where we get to see a glimpse of Riteish Deshmukh’s character from the original. Eight years after the events of the original film, another villain emerges, this one seeming to target women who have one-sided lovers. The voice over claims how the new killer wants to become a messiah to the heartbroken, and how there seems to be a strange connection between all those one sided love stories and his own story. As the trailer progresses, we also get to see Arjun Kapoor and John Abraham sharing some romantic moments with Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani respectively. But the delightful moments soon give way to a thrilling showdown between the male leads.

Kapoor also shared the trailer on his official Instagram handle, and part of his caption read “It's time to enter the Villain universe! #EkVillainReturns trailer out now. Coming to your nearest cinema halls this Villaintines Day- 29th July 2022.”
The upcoming film is a spiritual successor to 2014’s Ek Villain, which starred Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead. The film followed the story of a man who tries to exact revenge from a serial killer who murders the former’s partner.
Mohit Suri, who directed the original, returns to direct the upcoming sequel. The upcoming film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Suri under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures and T-Series.
Ek Villain Returns will be released in theatres on July 29, 2022.
