Yuva Rajkumar’s much-awaited sophomore project, Ekka, produced by KRG Studios and PRK Productions, and directed by Rathnan Prapancha maker Rohit Padaki was launched in November 2024, with a promise that it would be in theatres on June 6, 2025. For the longest time, it seemed that everything was on schedule to meet this deadline, but as the date grew closer, there was radio silence from the makers and no promotional material. Also, the teaser revealed for Yuva’s recent birthday did not include a release date.
This, of course, set off speculation that the film was being postponed, but there was no official word from the makers – until today, that is. A little while ago, the team of Ekka revealed that the film has been rescheduled to July 18, 2025, and the promise is that they will stick to this date without fail. OTTplay had reported a couple of weeks ago that Ekka was likely being pushed ahead, which became apparent, once other filmmakers began zeroing in on the date.
Ekka is said to be about one man’s fight as he gets pulled into the dark and gritty underworld of Bengaluru. Yuva is paired with Sampada Hulivana, while Sanjana Anand is also on board in a pivotal role. The film has Atul Kulkarni, Shruthi Krishna and Rahul Dev Shetty as well on the cast, while music is being handled by Charanraj.

Yuva, who made his acting debut with last year’s self-titled movie Yuva, directed by Santhosh Ananddram, did not get the blockbuster opening he was hoping for with the film backed by Hombale Films. Santhosh had the distinction of giving Yuva’s late uncle Puneeth Rajkumar two hits – Raajakumara and Yuvarathnaa – but could not replicate that with the young actor. Ekka, which many feel has major Jackie vibes, is expected to give his fledgling career a fillip. The actor is, in fact, following this up with yet another collaboration with the same producers, albeit with the director of Jackie, Sukka Suri.
