The much-awaited Ekka trailer is out and reiterates what the team, led by hero Yuva Rajkumar and director Rohit Padaki have been saying all along. It is one man’s journey from a quiet and peaceful life in the village, to the hustle and bustle of Bengaluru, where he gets caught up in a new and unsavoury world – one that turns his world upside down. Can Muthu hold on to his innocence?

The trailer has Yuva’s Muthu talk about the simple life back in his village, where he lives with his mother Ratna (Shruthi Krishna) and is surrounded by friends. It’s where he could have a good night’s sleep with not a worry in the world. But then, something happens and he is forced to make his way to the big city – Bengaluru - where he has to build a new life, amid new people. This new environment awakens a different side to Muthu – the animal within him.

Yuva Rajkumar is, of course, at the centre of all the action in the trailer, but it also introduces audiences to his love interest, played by Sanjana Anand, a bunch of goons including Atul Kulkarni, Poorna Mysore, etc., and, in a surprise twist, Adityaa as a rough-and-tough cop. Sampada Hulivana is also seen in the trailer, although her relevance in Muthu’s life remains unknown. Charanraj’s background score is a major highlight of the trailer.
The film is set to release in theatres on July 18, a little over a month after it was initially meant to release. It is Yuva’s sophomore film and expected to give his fledgling career the boost that his launchpad Yuva failed to give him. The film is expected to end the drought that the Kannada film industry has been struggling under since the beginning of the year and if the trailer is anything to go by, it will achieve that goal.
