When the team of the Kannada film Elumale described it, the narrative was always that it was an intense love story. What they failed to mention was that the intensity was not about the love story, but all the elements working towards keeping the couple apart. Debutant director Punith Rangaswamy’s film, which was backed by filmmaker Tharun Sudhir, had Ek Love Ya’s Raanna in the lead. He was paired with Mahanati fame, debutante Priyanka Achar. The duo played Harisha and Revathy; he a lowly cab driver from Mysuru, she a member of an affluent family from Salem in Tamil Nadu.

Harisha and Revathy had met when she came to Mysuru for higher studies, a relationship that eventually her folks got wind of and tried to get her out of. For a while, Revathy played along, pretending to consent to another marriage, but then she took off to be with Harisha just before the nuptials. On the fateful night that Revathy was on her way to Mysuru, Harisha was delayed with a tourist family he was ferrying around. Before they could make it to their planned meeting point, Harisha is waylaid by traffic cops, who suspect he was involved in a hit-and-run when they see a blood spatter on his vehicle.
Harisha is hauled to the station, where he then inadvertently witnesses a custodial death at the hands of the station inspector Venkatesh Nayak (Kishore). Harisha was just the pawn that Venkatesh needed, as he then tries to implicate the former in the crime, by having him drive over the deceased and fake a hit-and-run. Hopeful that the cops will let him go if he does as he’s told, Harisha plays along, but when it becomes apparent to him that there is no escaping them, he makes a run for it.
While the cops head in pursuit of Harisha, Revathy’s folks try to track her down, all on a night that accomplices of forest brigand Veerappan try to get a consignment of weapons across to him and a special investigation team attempts to stop this and apprehend him.
When Venkatesh is wounded during an encounter with Veerappan aides, Harisha decides to try and save his life by getting him to the nearest hospital, even though, moments ago, the police official had wished nothing but harm for him. Eventually, Harisha and Revathy are united, but not before her folks make one last ditch attempt to get her to come with them and marry the man of his choice.

In the ensuing melee, the man they’d found to marry her decides that if he doesn’t get her, no one else should either and swings a machete at her, intent to kill her. But then, Harisha steps in. Cut to several months later, Harisha and Revathy are living happily, with the support of the cops and all that’s missing is one half of his arm.
