Recently, Vishak Nair has been experimenting with different roles that showcased his flexibility as an actor. He plays Sanjay Gandhi in Kangana Ranaut's next movie, Emergency, which movie buffs are eager to see because of its compelling subject and performances. The film is all set to hit the big screen on September 6. In an interview with OTTplay, the young actor talks about his experience working with Kangana and how he prepped himself to understand Sanjay Gandhi.
As this is his second collaboration with Kangana following the 2023 film Tejas, Vishak described his time spent with her as excellent. "My admiration for her grew as I learnt more about her as a filmmaker. It is not easy to direct, produce, and act in a movie, but she can pull it off like a pro," he remarked.

The Footage star said that once Kangana dons her prosthetics, she fits in with her character, Indira Gandhi, with ease. "It was more like Indira Gandhi was directing us," he said. Vishak went on to say that Kangana is a brilliant director because she has a deep understanding of each performer individually.
Sanjay Gandhi, according to the actor, is an enigmatic figure because there are not many interviews—especially videos—of the latter. "To know more about his mannerisms, it took a lot of digging as well as attempts to find resources from the Indian Government archives, Reuters etc.," he stated. Vishak continued by saying that the unofficial biography, The Sanjay Story, which included interviews with those who knew him, was a great resource.
He mentioned that he had also heard a few fascinating stories about Sanjay. "In order to resemble the character, I gained 10 to 12 kg. But entering the character's headspace is the difficult part, the young star admitted. Vishak continued on to say that since the people who knew him are still living, his main goal was to tackle the role objectively and responsibly.
