Several films are promoted as Pan-Indian films these days. But Malayalam superstar Mohanlal chose to call Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj, as the ‘real Pan Indian film’, considering the scale of the movie and the effort that has gone into the making.
“This is the real Pan-Indian film. We tried to make a Pan-Indian film long back - Saaza-E-Kaalapani (the Hindi version of Kaalapani). So it was our dream to make a film like that,” Mohanlal said during the Empuraan official trailer launch event held in Mumbai.
Thanking Prithviraj for finally making this dream come true, Mohanlal said that “It is like magic”.
During the event, Prithviraj said that Empuraan is an unprecedented effort and “the scale and canvas is the deep end of the waters for our industry”. Empuraan is the second part in the trilogy with the first installment Lucifer, becoming a runaway hit in 2019. Lucifer, hailed as one of the best political action thrillers in recent times, is available for streaming on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium.

Earlier, the Empuraan trailer was released, adding to the anticipation of the Mohanlal-starrer. The nearly four-minute video gave glimpses of the dark world ruled by Khureshi Ab'raam aka Stephen Nedumpally. Prithviraj too will be seen in the pivotal role of Zayed Masood in Empuraan, along with a host of other stars such as Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Jerome Flynn and Eriq Ebouaney are also part of the stellar cast.
