Empuraan arrives: Mohanlal joins fans for FDFS at Kochi theatre, audiences thrilled | Watch

Empuraan has arrived! Six years after Lucifer took the box office by storm, the second installment in the three-part trilogy has also released worldwide. Even as fans queued up early morning on March 27 to catch the first show at 6am, the audiences at a theatre in Kochi were in for a surprise. None other than Mohanlal joined them in watching the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial, which has been mounted on a massive scale.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Empuraan, starring Mohanlal in the lead role, released in theatres across the globe on Thursday morning. As promised, Mohanlal too turned up at Kavitha theatre in Kochi, Kerala, for the early morning show. The Complete Actor from Malayalam was joined by his wife Suchitra, and Empuraan producers Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan.

Videos doing the rounds on the internet showed Mohanlal being escorted into the Kavitha theatre even as fans thronged around to get a glimpse of the Empuraan star. 

Mammootty, Basil Joseph wish success

The Empuraan team got a big shoutout a day before the release, with Mammootty wishing the team a historic success. This gesture by Malayalam megastar was lauded by fans even as Mohanlal and Prithviraj thanked Mammootty for the wishes. 

Basil Joseph, who garnered applause for his recent release Ponman, also rooted for the success of Empuraan, which also features Tovino Thomas, one of his frequent collaborators. 

Several other Malayalam stars have also rallied behind Empuraan, which is reportedly the biggest opener in Kerala.

As Empuraan hit theatres, Pirthviraj, the son of yesteryear actor Sukumaran, also penned a short yet emotional post on Instagram. “Achan..I know you’re watching,” the stellar actor turned director wrote on social media along with an L2E poster. 

Prithviraj’s wife, Supriya too, penned a long post for her husband on the eve of Empruaan's release. “It’s been a journey like no other and I am glad I got a ring side view!,” she wrote on Instagram. While commenting on the enormous effort that Prithviraj has put into Empuraan, Supriya said that she would always support him irrespective of the result.
