The buzz for the second instalment of Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan is rising every day, with its teaser promising some never-seen-before visuals from a Malayalam film. That the movie comes after Marco, which achieved pan-Indian success, and will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi simultaneously further adds to the expectations of the film.

Though the 2019 film Lucifer failed to create waves outside of the South film industries, its second instalment is expected to do much better – even if it is set to clash with Salman Khan’s Sikandar at the Bollywood box office.

Prithviraj would cast Shah Rukh Khan in Lucifer remake

In Telugu industries too, the film is much-awaited as the film’s remake titled Godfather, which had both Chiranjeevi and Salman Khan, got a decent response. In a recent interview with Filmibeat, Prithviraj was asked whom he would like to cast in the role of Stephen Nedumpally aka Khureshi Ab’raam, if the film ever got a Bollywood remake.

While explaining that his favourite Bollywood actor was Amitabh Bachchan, the Malayalam star said Shah Rukh Khan would be his choice as the protagonist in Lucifer’s Hindi remake.

First 20 minutes of Empuraan has Hindi dialogues: Prithviraj

Meanwhile, L2: Empuraan will have enough to keep the Hindi audience engaged, with the director saying that almost 20-25 minutes of the movie’s initial portions will have dialogues in Hindi. This will be retained for all the versions of L2: Empuraan, which will hit theatres on March 27.

Explaining why, the actor said that the audiences today are evolved and they would feel it weird if the movie had sequences with MI:6 where the characters talk in Malayalam. People now watch and enjoy Korean series like Squid Game, so there isn’t any need to localise the linguistic elements for the viewers, he added.
