Rumours are rife that Mohanlal and Prithviraj will be teaming up for another movie after their Empuraan outing
After marking his comeback with films with Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, director Shaji Kailas is reportedly gearing up to bring the two together for his upcoming project, according to reports. This will also be the first time that the superstar duo will be working together in a film helmed by another filmmaker. They had till now only collaborated in Prithviraj’s directorials – Lucifer and Bro Daddy.
The upcoming movie, which is reportedly set to go on floors only next year, is touted to be a political action-thriller and will be scripted by a debutant. There has been no official confirmation regarding the film as yet. But given how Prithviraj has been a huge fan of Shaji Kailas’ work and had been elemental in the filmmaker making his comeback after a hiatus, with Kaduva last year, it’s possible that the trio could team up for another ‘mass’ outing.
Shaji Kailas had worked with Mohanlal in the single-actor film Alone during the pandemic lockdown. The filmmaker, in an interview earlier this year, had confirmed that he will be teaming up with Mohanlal for a big-budget movie that will be produced by Aashirvad Cinemas. It’s not clear whether the Prithviraj-starrer is the same project.
The director has currently wrapped up the shoot of a horror-thriller titled The Hunt, which has Bhavana in the lead. The movie, which also has Rahul Madhav, Aditi Ravi and Renji Panicker, is set against the backdrop of a medical college.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal and Prithviraj are set to team up for L2: Empuraan next, after the latter recovers from his ligament injury. The movie was set to begin shooting on August 17, but has been delayed due to the location recce being put on hold, owing to Prithviraj’s injury on the sets of Vilayath Buddha. Mohanlal will now work on Jeethu Joseph’s film, which is expected to be a courtroom drama, during the allotted dates and then start Empuraan later this year.
