Actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran and the crew of Empuraan have been busy scouting locations for the Mohanlal-starrer the past few months. It now seems that the team has wrapped up the recce of the next instalment in the Lucifer franchise, which will have Mohanlal and Prithviraj reprising their roles as Khureshi Abram and Zayed Masood, respectively.

According to a recent report in a Malayalam vernacular daily, the team is set to begin shooting Empuraan from August 15. Three recce teams had been sent to scout locations for one of the biggest Malayalam films to be made and they have reportedly zeroed in on sites in six countries for the film, which will have both the past as well as the continuation of Stephen Nedumpally aka Khureshi Abram’s storyline.

Scripted by Murali Gopy, the movie will be the second in the planned trilogy of the Lucifer franchise and is also expected to have several actors from the first film to reprise their roles apart from artistes across other film industries.

In an earlier conversation with OTTplay, Prithviraj said that he and his team will be visiting the locations in the coming months to plan the shoot of the film, which will mark his third directorial after Lucifer in 2019 and Bro Daddy in 2022.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj has signed two Bollywood movies – Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Ibrahim Ali Khan’s debut movie. The actor, who is also part of Prabhas’ Salaar, is expected to resume shooting for Akshay-starrer’s abroad portions for the next two months.

In Malayalam, he has wrapped up the shoot of Blessy’s Aadujeevitham, which is expected to premiere at a leading global film festival. He is also part of Jayan Nambiar’s Vilayath Buddha, which is based on GR Indugopan’s eponymous novel. Prithviraj has also signed Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey director Vipin Das’ upcoming movie Guruvayur Ambalanadayil, which also has Basil Joseph in the lead.
