Emraan Hashmi is gearing up for the release of Dybbuk which is an Amazon Prime original. The film is the Hindi remake of the hit Malayalam film Ezra which was released in 2017. The Hindi horror flick is also directed by Jay K who helmed the original and features Nikita Dutta as the female lead. Interestingly, this is not the first time, Emraan worked with a Malayalam filmmaker, in 2019, the actor had another release The Body co-starring the late Rishi Kapoor. The thriller film which was also a remake was directed by Jeethu Joseph who is known for directing the Malayalam blockbusters Drishyam and Drishyam 2.

When asked about working with Malayalam filmmakers, Emraan in a recent group media interaction stated, "I don't think it's very different. Their interpretation of cinema is different. Malayalam is a little more subtle in the way they do things. But very intelligent cinema, some of the best films coming out right now are from Malayalam."

The actor added, "I'm a big fan of Malayalam cinema. It's different in the vision but that on the set it's pretty much the same. Film sets are chaotic be it in Malayalam or Hindi films."

Earlier while talking about the horror genre in India, Emraan had said at the trailer launch, "Horror has immense potential and it is untapped in India. The mainstream stars don't do horror films so budgets are less."

The Chehre actor further said, "I think it is a genre that has immense potential. There should be more home-grown horror films as our culture is vast and we have a lot of folklore. It is high time we explore the genre."

Meanwhile, talking about Dybbuk, the film has been extensively shot in Mauritius and also stars Manav Kaul in a supporting role. It's set to stream on Amazon Prime Video from October 29, 2021.
