Emraan Hashmi is currently preparing for the release of his Bollywood insider drama, Showtime. For the uninitiated, Karan Johar's Dharmatic and Disney+ Hotstar have teamed up for this exclusive series which will shed light on the good, the bad, and the ugly side of Bollywood. It is directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar and it promises to uncover all trade secrets of the industry. The trailer of the show was launched this evening where the Jannat actor was seen having a fun conversation with filmmaker KJo where he discussed his controversial episode of Koffee With Karan.

For those who are unaware, the fourth season of Koffee With Karan featured Emraan Hashmi with Mahesh Bhatt where Emraan discussed a lot of things that got him into the controversies. The actor made headlines at the time for calling Aishwarya Rai "plastic" and despite working with Mallika Sherawat in several movies, he also referred to her as the worst kisser. Not just these, he also commented on Shraddha Kapoor's appearance, implying that she ought to eat more.

When Karan teased him about the same at the Showtime trailer launch event today, he said, "I got into a lot of trouble last time and a lot of explaining to do but I keep telling this to people that it was because of you and the hamper." He then asked Karan if he has a hamper today to which Karan tells him "Showtime is your hamper."

Even earlier, in an interview with Zoom, Emraan addressed this incident and explained, "You end up making many enemies. It’s too much to handle. If I go on Koffee with Karan again I’ll make a mess of things again. I think I’ll probably be worse in the rapid-fire round than I was before. It’s an opinion and I don’t have anything against these people, I just want to win the hamper. It just becomes a competitive thing and then you say these weird things."

Meanwhile, Showtime is all set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on March 8, 2024.
