Emraan Hashmi and Karan Johar collaborate on the Hindi version of the Malayalam comedy Driving License for the first time. In the movie Selfiee, he portrays a motor vehicle inspector who clashes with Akshay Kumar's superstar character. Now, Karan and Emraan are working together on another project even before the Raj Mehta-directed film hits theatres early next year.

As per Peeping Moon, Emraan will star in Johar's upcoming web series, produced by his digital entertainment company, Dharmatic Entertainment. The working title for the web series in question, Blockbuster, revolves around a business family. It's anticipated that Emraan will portray a business mogul in this Disney+ Hotstar series.

The series, which was scripted by Sumit Roy of Gehraiyaan fame, will be jointly directed by filmmakers Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar. While Archit Kumar has previously worked as an assistant on films like Holiday, Tiger Zinda Hai, Sultan, and Ajeeb Daastaans, Mihir is best known for co-directing the well-liked Amazon Prime series Mirzapur. He also recently made his web series debut with the Imtiaz Ali-backed SonyLIV series, Dr. Arora.

A source told the entertainment portal that this new series by Dharmatic Entertainment is their first collaboration with Disney+ Hotstar. The film has a large cast and is a gripping family drama. The show will begin production in Mumbai by the end of the year.

Three years after making his web series debut with Red Chillies Entertainment's Bard of Blood, Emraan makes a comeback with Blockbuster. A former Indian agent who returns to spearhead an unauthorised hostage-rescue mission must confront his past in the Netflix thriller series. Emraan is rumoured to have signed up for the Dharmatic project and will begin production on it after finishing the Srinagar-based filming of Excel Entertainment's Ground Zero. The project's preparations have already begun, and pre-production will formally begin in October.

The purpose of Karan's digital content company, Dharmatic Entertainment, was to develop and produce movies and web series for OTT platforms. The banner is currently producing Ae Watan Mere Watan for Amazon Prime Video, in addition to Meenakshi Sundareshwar, Guilty, and Ajeeb Daastaans for Netflix.

After The Fame Game starring Madhuri Dixit and the upcoming Amazon Prime series, Call Me Bae, about a billionaire fashionista who is shunned by her ultra-wealthy family, Emraan's Blockbuster will be their third fictitious web series. Additionally, the firm is producing the India Love Project, an Amazon Prime docuseries that explores the moving love tales of real individuals from all around the nation. Each episode presents an unusual yet uplifting tale through the eyes of genuine couples.
