It’s hardly surprising that while it’s the big-budget action thrillers that are making noise in other language industries, feel-good movies and comedies are turning into sleeper hits in Malayalam. The industry has also had a soft corner of movies of such genre and it’s no wonder that some of its young stars including Fahadh Faasil and Nivin Pauly are going back to these romcoms or feel-good entertainers to bring in the family audience to theatres.

For those in the mood to watch such movies in the comfort of their own homes, we have curated a list of five feel-good movies that you can watch on Manorama Max and OTTplay Premium

Pavithran, Kiran, Abhi and Amal – who are close friends and members of the local club named Sumalatha – find out that their friend Bibeesh is getting married to Chandrika. Bibeesh keeps this under wraps because of the history others had with Chandrika. How the four decide to wreak havoc to Bibeesh’s perfect love story form the plot of this comedy entertainer, which stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Basil Joseph, Saiju Kurup, Abhiram Radhakrishnan and Tanvi Ram.

Homeo doctor Priyadarshan has prided himself on being dependable for everyone, except his family. His Good Samaritan ways have also meant that his family takes a beat seat when it comes to priorities. On a day he is set to meet Mammootty to pitch his script, several tasks – planned and unplanned – await him. Will Priyan be able to complete all of this and still make it in time for what is his most important task in the calendar? Sharafudheen, Aparna Das, Nyla Usha and Anarkali Marikar star in the movie.

Juliet and her daughter Aparna have been living in Kerala, while the patriarch, Nandan, is away in the Middle East. After Nandan returns to Kerala and Juliet gets a job in another district, Aparna has to spend more time with her father. The generation gap between the duo leads to more misunderstandings and the entry of another stranger into their lives further disrupts whatever semblance of peace they have. Jayaram, Meera Jasmine, Devika Sanjay and Naslen play pivotal roles in this feel-good entertainer, helmed by Sathyan Anthikad.

Assistant director Sara Vincent’s priority is to helm a movie, and she gets ample support for achieving this goal from her husband Jeevan. However, the day her dreams begin to materialise, Sara is also forced to make another decision that could change her life – to keep the baby or not. This feel-good social drama, about choosing to be child-free, has Anna Ben and Sunny Wayne in the lead.

Momo dreams of visiting the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. After an opportunity arises for Momo’s father to fly his family down to the United Arab Emirates, Momo reaches one step closer to his dream. But things take a turn after the young boy’s carefree ways land him and his father in trouble. How will they wiggle out of this predicament form the plot of the movie, scripted by Zakariya and Ashif Kakkodi. Anu Sithara and Aneesh G Menon essay the lead roles in the movie.
