National Award-winner Suraj Venjaramoodu’s return to comedy films this year will begin with Luka Chuppi filmmaker Bash Mohammed’s Ennalum Ente Aliya. The movie, which is touted to be a family entertainer, is another multi-starrer that also has Siddique, Lena and Gayathri Arun in the lead.
The film, which was earlier titled Love Jihad, revolves around an incident, which could have been brushed off, but instead gets blown out of proportion. Ennalum Ente Aliya is co-scripted by Bash and Sreekumar Araykkal. Suraj and Gayathri play a couple in the movie, which also has Meera Nandan and Sudheer Paravoor in a pivotal role.
In a recent interview with OTTplay, Bash, whose previous release was the 2017 film Prakashan, had said that the movie is similar to his acclaimed Jayasurya and Murali Gopy-starrer Luka Chuppi in terms of the genre but differs with regard to the narrative and storytelling.
“Ennalum Ente Aliya has humour throughout the movie. It deals with a subject that the happens in the daily lives of people and so the audience can easily connect with it. It’s the kind of film where people can come to theatres to watch and laugh. However, I also want to stress that though it has humour, it’s not made as a comedy. It deals with a serious subject but people will find humour in it because it happens to everyone,” the director said.
The movie will hit theatres in Kerala on January 6 and is among 2023’s first Malayalam theatrical releases. Amith Chakalakkal’s Theru will also release on the same day. Ennalum Ente Aliya, which is produced by Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames, has Prakash Velayudhan cranking the camera, while Shaan Rahman and William Francis are handling its music deparment with Manoj serving as the movie’s editor.
