Debutant filmmaker Godfy Babu’s film Enthada Saji was announced as the film in which Kunchacko Boban and Jayasurya would be teaming up after a considerable gap. The Malayalam stars had previously collaborated in Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum, almost seven years ago.

While the fans of the two actors couldn’t see the two share screen space in Enthada Saji, the film did have the duo in varied roles in the feel-good comedy entertainer, which had Nivetha Thomas in the titular role.

The movie, which also has Rajesh Sharma, Senthil Krishna, Arya Rohit and Sidharth Siva in supporting roles, had completed its shoot last year, and was among the last few movies that Jayasurya had worked on since starting on his physical transformation to play the titular role of a priest in Rojin Thomas’ fantasy action-thriller Kathanar.

Incidentally, Kunchacko Boban also plays a similar role in the film – that of a saint. Enthada Saji revolves around Nivetha’s character Sajimol, a lackadaisical young woman whose marriage has been delayed and prays to God for a suitable man. Instead, Saint Rocky appears in front of her, aiding her in getting her life in order and then fulfilling her wish. Jayasurya plays her former crush, who comes to the village. Just when Sajimol believes she has everything figured out, Saint Rocky goes missing and she takes it upon herself to find what happened to him.

The movie, which focuses on the struggles and joys of common people, was an Easter release in Kerala. In an earlier interview with us, Jayasurya, who had only shot for eight days for the film, said, “Mine is a friendly appearance at best. I did the movie because of my relationship with (producer) Listin (Stephen) and Chackochan.”

Enthada Saji, which also marked Nivetha’s comeback Malayalam film, is expected to begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from May 6.
