After several speculations, Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol's collaboration has made it official with Lahore, 1947. Sunny will play the lead role in the Aamir-produced film that Rajkumar Santoshi is directing. Previous collaborations between Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol have resulted in three successful films: Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak. Interestingly, Aamir is reuniting with his Andaz Apna Apna director after three decades, but not as an actor and director.

Aamir Khan's excitement:

In a statement, Aamir wrote, "I, and the entire team at AKP, are most excited and happy to announce our next, starring Sunny Deol, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, titled Lahore, 1947. We look forward to collaborating with the immensely talented Sunny and one of my favourite directors, Raj Santoshi. The journey we have embarked on promises to be most enriching.

Decades of box office clashes:

This collaboration between Aamir and Sunny comes after three decades of clashes at the box office. In 1990, when both Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol had blockbuster films opening on the same day, fans saw their first memorable box office showdown. Then in 1996, Raja Hindustani went up against Ghatak, and finally, in 2001, the most epic box office clash in Indian film occurred when both Lagaan and Gadar were released on the same day. The two have finally collaborated on something together for the first time! For Sunny and Aamir admirers, this is a double treat.

Meanwhile, Sunny is currently riding high on the success of his latest film, Gadar 2, which has crossed the Rs. 500 crore mark at the box office. The film, after a successful theatrical run, is likely to hit ZEE5 this week.

On the other hand, Aamir was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha, which was directed by Advait Chandan and was the official Indian remake of Forrest Gump.
