Escaype Live: Sumedh Mudgalkar talks about his life as a digital content creator on the Disney+Hotstar thriller series

Sumedh Mudgalkar who is known for playing Lord Krishna in the hit TV series Radha Krishn, will next be seen portraying Darkie in Siddharth Kumar Tewary's web series 'Escaype Live’. The Disney+Hotstar thriller series also stars Siddharth, Jaaved Jaaferi, Swastika Mukherjee, Plabita Borthakur, Ritvik Sahore and Waluscha De Sousa among others. In a recent interview, the actor talked about playing the role, which is totally opposite to his character in the mythological series. He also talked about the journey, working on the series and with the director Siddharth Kumar.

Speaking to IANS, the actor said he could immediately relate to the story when he heard it for the first time. All of the characters come from various backgrounds, but they all share the desire to succeed in life, he said.

Sumedh who has also featured in shows like 'Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat', added that creating viral content is exciting, yet challenging. Creating content, maintaining consistency, and being innovative enough to attract an audience’s attention within seconds are all difficult tasks. He said he follows a few social media influencers as he loves their content and admires how they earn a living through social media.

Sumedh described his character Darkie in the series, a fun character to watch. He said it was both difficult and exciting to play him on screen. The persona is unpredictable and has no regard for right or wrong. He further spoke about working with the director Siddharth. He said the amount of effort he has put into the show is ‘amazing’. “In heat and rain the way he has shot for the show is so commendable. The way he has led the team is inspiring, he is not only hardworking but also intelligent and playful,” he said.

Sumedh recollects getting into the skin of the character Darkie during the first few days, while also shooting for Radha Krishn as Krishna simultaneously. He used to check his director's face for approval after each shot. He felt the first day went okay but it was the second day that he got a green light from his director. He added that working with seniors like Shaam Kaushal, Aseem Mishra, and others helped him gain confidence every day.

Meanwhile, the show Escaype Live is a fictional story, written by Jaya Mishra and Siddharth Kumar Tewary. It revolves around a group of digital content creators who compete to create viral material to win a tournament, hosted by the new trendy app, Escaype Live. The series will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on May 20, 2022.
