Bollywood actress Esha Gupta, who made her film debut after winning the Miss International pageant title in 2007, opened up about the colourism she faces in Bollywood. In a recent chat with Bollywood Hungama, the actress said that many have advised her to apply more makeup for a fairer skin tone and that even the makeup artists have tried to cover up her original skin tone.

Esha, who is one of the most fashionable celebrities, has appeared in films like Jannat 2 and Raaz 3D. However, she doesn’t seem to have a smooth journey in the industry, as her co-stars agreed with the makers and makeup artists.

Talking about the makeup artists, Esha said many would try to make her face fair and then paint her whole body in order to match the skin tone of the face. She also added that the two multi-starrers she had worked in, got her comments like sexy since the dark complexion is either considered as sexy or negative in our country. “Fair skin has to be the girl next door and sharif (honest),” she exclaimed.

Besides her gorgeous fashion sense, she is also praised for being a self-made actress. She has worked with Emraan Hashmi and Ajay Devgn, and soon she will be seen in the upcoming web series Nakaab. The mystery thriller series will be streamed on MX Player from September 15. The actress will be playing the role of a cop who investigates the death case of a popular actress. The story progresses as she keeps finding more surprising details about the case. Helmed by Soumik Sen, the series also has Mallika Sherawat and Gautam Rode in pivotal roles.
