Eternals: Oscar-winning Chloé Zhao directorial to make an OTT debut on this date

Here is some good news for the fans of the superhero flick. The film Eternals will hit your small screens soon. The film will be released on Disney+Hotstar on January 12, 2022. The makers made the announcement recently. 

Directed by Chloé Zhao, the film stars Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Harish Patel, Kit Harington and Salma Hayek. The film will arrive on the platform after 69 days of its theatrical premiere. The film had a global release in theatres on November 5. That's two days less than the 71-day window that Disney had planned for its earlier Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The film will be available to stream in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on Disney+ Hotstar in India. It can be streamed in the expanded IMAX Enhanced aspect ratio like the 13 other MCU movies on the OTT platform. The other films on the platform that can be streamed in the IMAX enhanced aspect ratio include Iron Man (2008), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Doctor Strange (2016), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), Captain Marvel (2019), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Black Widow (2021), and Shang-Chi (2021).

Disney+ is the first major streaming service to offer IMAX Enhanced. Earlier, according to NDTV, Sony had implemented IMAX Enhanced in Bravia Core for a select range of its 4K Bravia TVs. The IMAX Enhanced view offers a 1.90:1 aspect ratio, which means 26 per cent more picture for select sequences. 

Eternals is co-written and directed by Chloé Zhao, an Oscar-winning director. The film has been receiving great response for its diverse cast, performances and direction since its release in theatres. The film is about immortal beings who have been living in hiding on Earth for more than 7,000 years to save humanity. Each of them possesses some superpower like Sersi can manipulate inanimate matter, Ikaris can fly and shoot beams out of his eyes and Kingo can shoot energy projectiles from his hands. 

Do not forget to catch the show again on the OTT platform on January 12, 2022. Just like the theatrical release in India, the film will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam for viewing.
