This mystery-laden horror film is the sequel to Black Phone, and ever since the trailer dropped, the expectations have only doubled. The movie will be releasing almost a month after The Conjuring: Last Rites but during the spooky Hall oween season. Ethan Hawke’s horror sequel Black Phone 2 will hit the theaters on October 17.
Helmed by Scott Derrickson, Black Phone 2 features Ethan Hawke’s return as the evil villain, The Grabbers. Mason Thames plays the teen boy, Finney, who survived the abduction and killed a serial killer. Madeleine McGraw plays Gwen, Finney's sister, who is terrified with dark nightmares around the eponymous portal. Miguel Mora also reprises his role from the original film. The supporting cast also features Demián Bichir, Jeremy Davies, and others.
With suspenseful tones and a solid trailer clip, Black Phone 2 has already elevated the expectations of fans. Many viewers gave a big thumbs up to the trailer. One of them wrote, “Considering what their abilities were in the first film, this actually makes quite a bit of sense. I’m here for it.”
