As of now, according to Variety, Euphoria has become HBO’s most-viewed show, after Game of Thrones. HBO head Casey Bloys revealed in a press meet on November 2 that Euphoria Season 3 can be expected in 2025. In a reel showcasing their 2025 release list of projects including updates on The Last of Us, The White Lotus, and IT, Euphoria’s title was also present.
The series starring Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Barbie Ferreira, Alexa Demie, Dominic Fike, Eric Dane, and Storm Reid, premiered in 2019. The exit of Kat (Barbie Ferreira) from the show after season 2 came as a shock to the fans. But it was the death of Angus ‘Fezco’ Cloud that shook Euphoria fans to the core. As of now, their characters' fates are not known.
Season 2 ended on a tumultous note, despite the quaint scene between Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter). Nate (Jacob) reports his father’s sex tapes to the police and gets him arrested, while poor Lexi’s amusing play about their own lives results in an explosive fight between Cassie and Maddy.
But it is Fezco and his brother Ashtray who suffer the most, with the former suffering a gun wound and imminent jail time, while the latter is fatally shot by the police. The peaceful scene between a sober Rue and a heartbroken Jules also sparks possibilities of a future together.
Due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, both the writing and the production part of the project has remained stalled. Post ending of strikes, the writing of the project shall be completed, before the project goes on floor in 2024.
However, director Sam Levinson had revealed to Elle in August that the third season of Euphoria was a “film noir” to him. He had further said that Rue will “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”
