Ewan McGregor goes through a series of emotions in the first trailer of Halston that has him playing the American fashion icon Roy Halston Frowick, who rose to fame in the 70s.
The trailer of the Ryan Murphy series, which is set to premiere on May 14 on Netflix, dropped on May 3 and had McGregor acing the controversial fashion designer’s rise as he builds a global fashion line on his own and also his fall.
Halston, who began his career selling hats, soon rose to fame by becoming the go-to designer for American fashion models and celebrities, the most notable being Jacqueline Kennedy who wore the pillbox he designed to her husband’s presidential inauguration in 1961. After building a fashion empire, Halston was pushed out of his company in the 80s after a series of ill-advised decisions.
With plenty of memorable dialogues such as, “I’ve been an outsider my whole life until one day I just stopped giving a flying (expletive),” and, “I have a vision, I’m gonna change the face of American fashion,” this Daniel Minahan directorial promises to be a treat. And not just for those who love intense biopics but also those who have good taste in fashion – with the trailer teasing some gorgeous attires made by Halston during the era.
The five-episode limited series also stars Rebecca Dayan, Krysta Rodriguez and Vera Farmiga. McGregor, meanwhile, is also busy with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+ Hotstar in which he would be reprising his character from the Star Wars movies.
