Ali Merchant has entered the same Lock Upp, where Sara Khan is already arrested. While she has tried to maintain her distance from her ex-husband, Ali sure hopes to clear the air between them. He spoke to OTTplay about the past, when he got married to Sara Khan after falling in love with her and just as soon, even got divorced. The two had a much-public nikkah on Bigg Boss 4 but never openly spoke about what happened up until now.

While Sara Khan has recently revealed that she married Ali in order to save her image in public (who were assuming she was in a relationship with Ashmit Patel and burned her photos on streets), Ali now told us his side of the story.

“Back then, whatever happened, our intentions weren’t wrong. It is the same case today. I’m going on the show with the sole intention of redemption, where I accept all the things that have happened. I have already decided since a while that after all the experiences I have been through, honestly, Ali from that time is what every teenage boy today is. He was someone who didn’t know that you don’t say yes to everything in life. I realize all of those things. I’m not interested in making the other person understand what I have realized. I will never want to pull down anyone, especially Sara. I don’t want to climb the ladder by doing that,” he shared.

While giving out details about what exactly happened ever since and why he was out of work in the TV industry, Ali mentioned, “Everything I have achieved till date is on my own. I feel that before Bigg Boss, I had good work. There is a saying about the rotten apple. I faced a similar situation. I saw the low moments and my journey changed. I worked in a Badlapur company because I didn’t receive work. I travelled for five hours, listened to music and would work for eight hours. I worked like that for two years. I took even that work to the next level. I then entered the music industry because I wanted to be in the creative field. I didn’t know anything apart from acting back then. So, I took up DJing and touchwood, today I’m among the top three-four DJs in India. I have worked on good shows and platforms with good artists. Then, Bigg Boss happened when I was in the best phase of my life.”

The actor-turned-DJ cleared that he has moved on in life and is in a happier space today. Clarifying the same, he shares, “I feel like if someone is in the right, God will pave a way for that person either today or tomorrow. You pay for your mistakes but they also teach you a lot. I’m happy with every single thing that has happened with me. It has helped me to realize things and get very clear in life. Clarity is the only way to be happy. I understand what I want. I understand that Sara is emotional but it has been years since our own journey and struggles. Everyone on the show is a survivor. It is all about how you see and want to see things in life. Let’s see how that goes.”

Ali has another purpose to go on the show – to be able to face Sara and clear things up. Adding to that, he says, “I want to see how she handles things. When I say Sara is emotional, I also wish to see her as mature to be able to understand my pain too. If you don’t understand it, then you are at fault. My funda in life is very clear. I feel like people can and should talk things out if they feel something is wrong. This is how I have become in life.”
