Ala Modalaindi, Oh Baby filmmaker Nandini Reddy's next feature film, titled Anni Manchi Sakunamule, went on floors today. Starring Santosh Sobhan and Malvika Nair in lead roles, the film is a family drama produced by Swapna Cinema, the makers of the Savithri biopic Mahanati. Sheikh Dawood and Lakshmi Bhupala have jointly written the script and the dialogues for Anni Manchi Sakunamule, which has music by Mickey J Meyer. The director's earlier release was her short for the Netflix anthology Pitta Kathalu, starring Amala Paul, Jagapathi Babu, that released in February this year.
Talking to OTTplay, the film's writer Lakshmi Bhupala, who is collaborating with Nandini Reddy for the fourth time, tells us, "Anni Manchi Sakunamule reiterates the beauty of togetherness and bonds within our families. I would even say that the film is largely a story about families which also has a love angle to it. We often build invisible walls within our houses with fragile egos to seek petty gains. The story focuses on how we could lead a fruitful, happier life if we look at the larger picture. This is a feel-good film with slice-of-life humour, honest emotions. Every family will relate with it."
Anni Manchi Sakunamule's motion poster, released earlier in the day, showcasing aninmated lush-green landscapes and a moving train was also a throwback to the iconic song from NTR-ANR starrer Krishnarjuna Yuddham (that the film is named after). The film's lead actor, Santosh Sobhan, shot to fame after his direct-to-OTT release Ek Mini Katha a month ago won applause from critics and audiences alike. He is also working on director Maruthi's web show alongside Mehreen Pirzada. His Anni Manchi Sakunamule co-star Malvika Nair's last appearance was also for an OTT film, Orey Bujjiga, that released on aha in 2020.
