At a time when the digital space wasn't exactly as explosive as today and the OTT boom was a phrase unheard of, a Telugu gangster drama GOD: Gods of Dharmapuri, that streamed on ZEE5, set a golden standard for storytelling. The show starring Raj Deepak Shetty, Sruthi Jayan, Satyadev Kancharana, Chandini Chowdary, Samyuktha Hornad, Bala Aditya and Karthik Ratnam in pivotal roles marked the comeback of Anish Kuruvilla as a director. Produced by Radhika Lavu of Ellanar Films, the show was set in a fictitious village Dharmapuri in the Rayalaseema region.
GOD was dubbed into multiple languages later and broke several records in terms of viewership. The first season, where the lead character Venu Reddy, played by Satyadev becomes a CM, ends on a cliffhanger and audiences, ever since, have been waiting for an update about the second season of Gods of Dharmapuri. The producer of the show, Radhika Lavu, in an exclusive conversation with OTTplay shares, "We are going to begin work on the second season of GOD very soon. The OTT platform will officially announce the same shortly. The second season will take off on a different terrain that'll surprise audiences for sure."
When asked if the cast from the first season would feature in the second instalment, Radhika says, "Only some of the actors who're part of the earlier season will be retained. Otherwise, it'll have several new faces given the fact that many new characters are bound to enter the show." Shaktikanth Karthick had composed the music and Naveen Yadav was the cinematographer for the first season. It'll be exciting to see the direction that this intense gangster drama is bound to take.
