Among the many trends in 2021, one has become extremely popular. The trend is of converting TV serials into web series.

A few examples of such web series are Qubool Hai 2.0 and Jamai Raja 2.0. More recently, Pavitra Rishta 2 has been making headlines, especially after Shaheer Sheikh replaced Sushant Singh Rajput as Manav.

OTTplay spoke to veteran actor Apara Mehta, who has been a part of the iconic TV show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Talking about the trend, Apara said briefly, “But they worked no? I think if these shows bring a fresh breath of air, then there’s no harm in remaking them as web series.”

Shrenu Parikh also mentioned, “It’s great. On TV, the fate of a show is decided by a situation so they get shut down, but the fans still love it. I think 2.0 is great.”

Further, the actress named two of her popular shows which she wouldn’t mind if converted into a web series. Ishqbaaz and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon are the shows the actress picked for a franchise.

Both Qubool Hai 2.0 and Jamai Raja 2.0 released on Zee5 and have been well received. Meanwhile, Pavitra Rishta 2 recently went on floors. However, the show is making controversy after Shaheer stepped in as Manav.

While Shaheer Sheikh plays Manav in the web series, Ankita reprises her role as Archana from the TV show Pavitra Rishta. Usha Nadkarni, who played Manav’s mother Savita Deshmukh in the show, will reprise her role in the series too.

Pavitra Rishta 2 will stream on Zee5 for 55 days. It will later be available on AltBalaji.

The series is directed by Nandita Mehra. Pavitra Rishta was a show about a couple trying to live a quiet life in Mumbai.
