With his film Dhokha: Round D Corner releasing on Netflix, after its theatrical release last month, actor-singer Aparshakti Khurana is hopeful that the film will find its audience on OTT. If so, he adds, it will make his birthday all the more special. He turns 35 today and confessed that he one of those people who prefer to have a working birthday.
In Dhokha: Round D Corner, Aparshakti plays a Kashmiri terrorist named Haq Gul. The actor had to put in a lot of effort to play his role convincingly, from the body language to picking up the Kashmiri dialect. He says that this effort is visible onscreen throughout the film.
In an exclusive conversation with OTTplay, Aparshakti said, "I hope that Dhokha: Round D Corner gets its due on Netflix and reaches a lot of people. It's my birthday today and my film is getting a new lease of life on the OTT platform, which is very special in itself. When the film released in theatres last month, a few good friends and well-wishers messaged me, praising my performance. Of course, the film did not do as well at the box office as we were expecting, but I think every film has its own fate. All of us have done our best and now it's for the audience decide. I have already started work on my next project."
When asked about his birthday plans, Aparshakti said, "I am not big on birthday celebrations. I am the kind of a person who prefers to have a working birthday. I am keeping myself occupied with a music video that I have shot along with Nikita Dutta in Turkey. Now, we are busy with its post-production and we plan to release it after 15 days. I like having a working birthday like this."
Aparshakti is known for delivering some of his best performances in films like Dangal, Stree, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Street Dancer and Helmet, to name a few.
Dhokha: Round D Corner is directed by Kookie Gulati, and also features R Madhavan, Khushalii Kumar and Darshan Kumar, among others. It released in theatres on September 23 and is available to stream on Netflix.
