Exclusive! Asur 2's Amey Wagh: The casting system has changed; only talent matters now

Amey Wagh plays a crucial role in the web series Asur 2. His character, Rasool Sheikh, gains importance with each episode. Being a prominent name in the Marathi film and TV industries, the actor says the show and new casting system are helping actors like him transition between different regional industries faster.

Talking about how Asur has given him a pan-Indian reach, Amey told OTTplay, "I am excited about how people, especially the pan-Indian audience, are noticing my work now. I have been working in the Marathi entertainment industry for quite some time, and I have received appreciation for my work there. But now, thanks to Asur, people from all over the country know me, which is great. People who think that I am a new actor are getting to know my body of work in Marathi by watching my Marathi content. I see this as an opportunity to expand my audience from Marathi to across India. This is now possible for actors like us because of streaming shows."

"The casting system has changed. If you work hard, you get important parts to play in Hindi-language shows, regardless of which regional industry you belong to. The transition is much easier now. Earlier, switching from one industry to another was almost like starting from scratch. Since the Hindi audience hasn't seen my work apart from Asur, I still have a lot of chances to surprise them with my performance. It is really exciting," explained the actor, who has starred in popular Marathi films like Popat, Faster Fene, and Muramba.

When it comes to Hindi content, Amey has appeared in web series like Sacred Games 2 and The Great Indian Murder.

Asked if he has a wish list of filmmakers and actors in the Hindi film industry that he wants to work with in the near future, Amey promptly responded, "I do not have any wish list. "In fact, I want to be on the wish list of all the filmmakers (smiles)."
