Exclusive! Ayush Mehra on his chemistry with Aisha Ahmed in Minus One: New Chapter

While casting actors for a love story, the onscreen chemistry between the two people often becomes the deciding factor. And it seems like the makers of the upcoming drama series Minus One: New Chapter have found a good pair in Ayush Mehra and Aisha Ahmed, who will be seen as Varun and Riya.  

While they are looking sensational together in the trailer, in a special conversation with Ayush, we tried to decode the secret behind their on-screen chemistry. 

Ayush told OTTplay, “Aisha and I have been friends for eight years, and we have worked together earlier as well. So, we are not only comfortable with each other as co-actors, but also as individuals. We trust each other a lot. When you are acting as a couple, the chemistry comes from the comfort you share in each other’s company. And she knows that when I am doing something on screen, it is not to take her scene away or to put her down. We didn’t have to filter our thoughts. Instead, we decided to go with the flow. That is the primary thing for creating on screen chemistry.”

The actor also gave credit to the creator of the show. “I also have to say this, the way we are appearing on screen is also about the way our director and cinematographer have shot the scene. Lighting and camera also do tricks, especially in intimate scenes. Our director Shubham Jogi has done a great job on that. He has written it so well and shot it so well that it looks 10X more of what we have actually done in reality.”

Minus One: New Chapter is a nuanced and unflinching tale of love, heartbreaks and friendship between Varun and Riya, and how they don’t get their ‘happily ever after’. The show, created by Sidhantha Mathur and Shubham, also features comedian-actress Kusha Kapila, and it is all set to release on February 14 on Lionsgate Play.
