Actor Barun Sobti is quite excited about his upcoming web series, titled Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji. In the action-packed cop drama, Barun is playing the character of Sameer, who is the husband of Kavya Iyer (played by Regina Cassandra), an IPS officer and the female protagonist of the show.

Giving an insight into his character, Barun told OTTplay, “My character Sameer is quite the opposite of the show’s theme, because it is essentially an action-packed cop drama. I am a family man in the series. In the course of the narrative, Sameer tries to instil that in Kavya’s mind, making her realise why their family should be important to her. Perhaps, more than her duty as a police officer. They have a child together, so he wants her presence in the upbringing of the kid as well. At the same time, it is also a good lesson on parenting; on how different parents think differently about their child.”

The show also features some of prominent actors from the industry, including Sumeet Vyas, Gayathri Shanker, Deepika Amin and Sandeep Dhabale among others. The trailer has already been released. It has some action sequences of Regina, some tender moments between Barun and the child actor, and also gives a glimpse of Mita Vashist’s no-nonsense attitude. The show is expected to make an engaging watch for the audience.

The series tries to depict the risk that the Indian police force takes, especially when security is under threat due to terrorist activities. The makers also claim that though it is not the story of one police officer, it is inspired by many true events.

Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke is all set to release on ZEE5, and also will be available for streaming on OTTplay Premium from January 26, marking Republic Day 2023.
