Late on Monday evening, Bengaluru girl and actress Kavya Shetty posted pics from the muhurtha of her new film. As it turns out, Kavya has got a role in actor Arya’s next, which has been tentatively called #Arya33. Produced by the actor in association with Think Studios, the film directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan pairs Arya with Aishwarya Lekshmi. The film also stars Simran, Harish Uthaman, Bharath Raj and Gokul Anand. The film, we hear, will be shot in Chennai, Malaysia, Gangtok, Munnar and Ooty. D Imman fills in as composer.

“I am currently in Chennai, shooting for my portions in the film. The team has strictly forbidden the cast and crew from divulging details about the film, so, all I am allowed to say is that it is a sci-fi drama and that I have an action-packed role. We began shooting today and I have already started doing action sequences,” says Kavya, speaking to us from the set of the film.

Meanwhile, back home in Kannada, the actress has a few films lined up. While her film with Ravichandran V, Ravi Boppanna is ready for release, the actress recently completed a thriller opposite J Karthik called Kaada, directed by Vishruth Naik. She will also be seen as a human rights activist in an as-yet-untitled film with Vijay Suriya, which is under production, while her film Sold, in which she plays a journalist is headed for an OTT release shortly.

In an earlier interaction with us, Kavya had spoken about her role in Kaada, which not only has her play a character with grey shades, but also one who kills someone onscreen. “My character is not completely negative, but it has shades of grey. In fact, when Vishruth approached me for the role, I was apprehensive, because I had never worked on this kind of a subject that has a lot of gore and violence. It’s a proper slasher movie, so to say, surrounding events that happen over two days. But Vishruth convinced me that instead of saying that I have never done something like this before, I should actually try my hand at a new genre. I had to wear the same clothes for the entire shoot, and even kill a character,” she had said.
