Exclusive! Bhashwar Chatterjee is the new Ajit in Anirban’s Byomkesh season 8

The literary character Byomkesh Bakshi has managed to be in news for a while now. The sleuth's screen adaptation has never failed to impress the audience. From Jisshu U Sengupta to Abir Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya and others have played the character of Byomkesh on the screen. And now Dev will play the Bengali sleuth in Durgo Rohoshyo, which will be directed by Birsa Dasgupta. Meanwhile, Anirban’s portrayal of Byomkesh in the OTT space will see another season. Directed by Sudipto Roy, the eighth season, Byomkesh O Pinjrapol, is based on Byomkesh O Chiriakhana. This time there has been a change in the character Ajit. After Suprobhat’s performance, popular actor Bhashwar Chatterjee will be seen as Byomkesh’s assistant-cum-friend. Anirban and Ridhima Ghosh will be seen as Byomkesh and Satyabati like before.

While neither the makers nor the actors have confirmed the inclusion of Bhashwar, sources informed us that the shooting of the series has already been wrapped. The dubbing has been done recently. As per our sources, the series may get dropped in April. This will be the next big release on Hoichoi after Debaloy Bhattacharya and Subhashree Ganguly’s ambitious project, Indubala Bhaater Hotel. 

Suprobhat has been portraying the character of Ajit for a number of seasons. Bhashwar will be seen in the eighth season. The ninth season – which will be based on Durgo Rohoshyo – will be made by Srijit Mukherji and there is a possibility of introducing new actors for Satyabati and Ajit.  

Bhashwar plays a crucial character in Zee5’s Roktokorobi. There has not been any further confirmation on other OTT projects.
