Exclusive! Debraj Bhattacharya to play Manilal in Srijit Mukherji’s Durgo Rawhoshyo

Srijit Mukherji and his team have already reached Madhya Pradesh where the shooting of Durgo Rawhoshyo will begin. We have already reported that Anirban Bhattacharya, Sohini Sarkar, and Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee will play Byomkesh Bakshi, Satyabati, and Ajit. 

Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s Durgo Rahosyo is dotted with several other important characters. As per sources, Debraj Bhattacharya will be seen as Manilal in Srijit Mukherji’s Durgo Rawhoshyo. Besides, Biplab Chatterjee will play Prof Ishanchandra, Anusha Viswanathan will be seen as Tulsi and Anujoy Chatterjee will be seen as her teacher, Ramapoti. Srijit took to his social media to announce the beginning of the work with a photograph in front of a fort.  

Interestingly, Debraj’s co-actor from Ballabhpurer Roopkotha, Satyam Bhattacharya, will be seen as Manilal in Birsa Dasgupta’s Byomkesh O Durgo Rohosyo in which Dev plays the sleuth.  

This fall, the Bengali audience will experience a double dose of Byomkesh. The frontrunners of the Bengali entertainment industry have taken a fancy to Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s Durgo Rahosyo and as a result, one feature film, directed by Birsa Dasgupta, and one web series, directed by Srijit Mukherji will be released. The former will feature Dev, Rukmini, and Ambarish Bhattacharya will be seen as Byomkesh Bakshi, Satyabati, and Ajit.

The film rights of Durgo Rohoshyo are with Shadow Films. As per sources, Srijit was scheduled to direct the feature film. Later, Dev took over the rights and expressed his wish to play Byomkesh. Srijit left the project and tied up with Hoichoi, who holds the digital rights to the novel. As a result, Birsa is directing the feature film with Dev as Byomkesh. Srijit is making a web series for Hoichoi based on the same novel.
