Dheekshith Shetty has literally had no time to well and truly enjoy all the love coming his way after the release of the pan India film Dasara, in which he played the much-appreciated role of Suri. Amid the release and promotions of the film, he had to begin work on his debut Telugu web series, for which he had to get rid of the thick beard he’d grown for Dasara and parts of his Kannada film KTM, and lose a few kilos. The character requirement was to look much younger than he is.

“I look a lot different when I am clean shaven, so much so that immediately after Dasara’s release, people wouldn’t immediately recognize me. It’s only when I’d begin speaking and they hear my voice that they realize that I am the guy who played Suri,” he says with a laugh, adding, “I’m blessed that when I lose weight and go fuzz-free I can pull off younger characters.

The show, says Dheekshith, will focus on a bunch of four youngsters. Produced by Guru Films, it is a sci-fi thriller revolving around a young boy with a certain superpower, and how he solves the mystery behind the death of his parents, says Dheekshith. “I play this guy called Rishi, who is a pre-university student, who has a certain super power but is also very clumsy at the same time and unsure of how to go about using it. While the story revolves around my character, there’s Navdeep also in a pivotal role, while Komalee Prasad is the female lead. Sanchitha Poonacha, who was in Meet Cute, will also be a part of the show directed by Ramana Tej. We’ve completed one schedule of the shoot and will resume next week,” he says. The show will be dubbed in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi also and should be out by December, reckons Dheekshith, who is also awaiting the release of his next in Kannada, KTM.
