Fahadh Faasil has signed his next in Malayalam, after a gap of almost a year. The Malayankunju actor, whose most Malayalam release was Malayankunju, will next be teaming up with Sudheesh Shankar for an upcoming movie that will go on floors later this year.

Sudheesh, who had previously helmed Dileep’s Villali Veeran and Manoj K Jayan’s Kukkiliyar, has also directed several TV series including Kabani and Paadatha Painkili. The upcoming Fahadh-starrer will be produced by RB Choudhary, who had also backed Villali Veeran.

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Sudheesh says, “The movie is not a commercial entertainer, it’s a realistic thriller. It’s based on real incidents. We are planning to begin the shoot only by November this year.”

The filmmaker says that more details of the film will be unveiled on August 17 (Chingam 1). “The project will be officially announced through Fahadh’s social media pages along with its title as well as the crew on the auspicious day,” he says.

Meanwhile, Fahadh also has Akhil Sathyan’s Pachuvum Athbhuthavilakkum set for release in December this year. The movie, which is touted to be an entertainer, marks the debut directorial of Sathyan Athikad’s son. The film also has Vineeth in a pivotal role.

In an earlier interview with us, Fahadh, who was also part of several blockbusters since the pandemic such as Pushpa and Vikram, said that Malayalam movies are still his priority. “For me, what is important is that Malayalis watch my films because I clearly make movies for them. My movies are totally from here – the emotions and everything. So, it’s important that people at home watch my films,” he said.

The actor’s latest film Malayankunju, which was directed by Sajimon Prabhakar and scripted by Mahesh Narayanan, once again was lauded for its brilliant storytelling and performances. The film revolves around the transformation of a man, after being trapped 40 ft below following a landslide.
