Did you know that director Homi Adjania's web series Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo was earlier named Saas, Bahu Aur Cocaine? Before its release, the makers took the decision to change the name, keeping in mind the potential controversies that the title could court as well as the censorship issues.
In a recent conversation with OTTplay, actor Varun Mitra, who played a pivotal role in the series, got candid and shared his opinion on the matter.
Varun said, "If five years ago someone would have told me about a show with a subject like Guilty Minds or Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo, it would not have been imaginable. So, I feel that in the last couple of years, a lot of evolution has taken place in the country, and the content has changed drastically. It is a good time, as we are making films and series with interesting content and talking about various characters, which was not happening earlier. So, I see a silver lining, and if we have to change the name of a show, it is alright. For now, if making such changes will not hurt any sentiments and make the content accessible to everyone, I am okay with it. I know that this will also change in the future, so I am not worried about it. It is only practical to deal with things like that. Such adjustments are okay, and I am looking at this as a corrective action for the greater good."
Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo is set in Rajasthan and revolves around a drug business run by women from different generations of a family.
The show also stars Dimple Kapadia, Angira Dhar, Isha Talwar, Radhika Madan, Deepak Dobriyal, and Naseeruddin Shah. It is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
