Through the media interaction before the release of the film Govinda Naam Mera, in which Trupti Khamkar plays a house help, she was faced with one question by every journalist — why did she choose to play a house help yet again? The actress said that although at times she feels that she is stuck a certain kind of character that she plays effortlessly every time, Trupti said that she deals with stereotypes and that her onscreen image that is polar opposite of who she is in reality.

Trupti told OTTplay, "I know that it is a compliment when people say that I am unrecognisable in real life from what they have seen me onscreen — t hat as a maid. But I want different compliments now. Look, there is nothing wrong with playing a kaamwali bai onscreen, especially since each of those characters had different natures, body language and stories. But I somewhere feel stuck there. I can do other roles as well! I remember that during the screening of Zombievli, people endlessly spoke about my character in front of me without realising that I was standing right there! Of course, in real-life I dress up and wear makeup, and don't look like a house help."

Recalling her first meeting with Shashank Khaitan, the director of Govinda Naam Mera, Trupti shared that the filmmaker was surprised to see her. "Shashank was surprised to see me, as I was wearing a regular cotton dress and casual makeup, which is how I like to dress up. He thought that I would turn up wearing something that would make me look the way everyone has onscreen. His reaction was, 'Arrey, you are like a Bandra girl!' Because the image of a house help is stuck in people's minds! Being a good actress, I have been able to convince people of the roles that I play, but now I want different opportunities and play a variety of roles," shared Trupti.

Govinda Naam Mera is directed by Shashank Khaitan, and also features Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Kiara Advani, Sayaji Shinde, Dayanand Shetty, Amey Wagh and Renuka Shahane. It will release on December 16 on Disney+ Hotstar.
