Rahul V Chittella directorial Gulmohar was released on March 3 on Disney Plus Hotstar. The film is streaming with all the positive reviews for it's simple but unique storyline. The film stars Sharmila Tagore, Manoj Bajpyaee, Amol Palekar, Simran, Suraj Sharma, Kaveri Seth and Utsavi Jha, among others.

The director recently gave OTTplay an exclusive interview where he spoke openly about the differences between movie theatres and OTT platforms. Keep reading to know the details.

He said, "The biggest success of OTT platforms is that it reaches your house, you don’t even need to come out of your house. Earlier, we used to all look forward to Friday, Saturday, Sundays to go out to the theaters with your family and now that’s not happening anymore and at the same time OTT is slowly becoming a very solitary experience of watching content. So hopefully this becomes such a family event where you can call up your friends or you can call up your family or spouses and make it a occassion to sit together and watch a film."

Further when asked if theatres are losing charm at some extent due to OTT platforms, the director said, "I don't think so. I think it’s also the commerce because it’s not easy and it’s not cheap anymore to go to the theatre. For a film, you need to make the film and also market the film. And specially if you want your audience to go to the theatres, your marketing budget have to be very high to entice the audience to come out of their house, not go to the restaurant and come to the theatre and buy that popcorn. So, I think it's very nice that OTT and cinema are competing and both are doing well. And I think TV screens are also becoming bigger in our houses so it's like bringing the theatre to your home."

The Disney+ Hotstar streaming movie Gulmohar is about the conflicts that develop among the New Delhi-based Batra family as they get ready to leave their longtime home. Some of the most moving parts in the movie are a result of one of the secrets that comes out to be most affecting for the family members.

The film also stars Amol Palekar, Simran, Suraj Sharma, Kaveri Seth and Utsavi Jha among others. Gulmohar released on 3rd March 2023 on Disney+ Hotstar.
