Winter is here. In Kolkata, this is the time to enjoy the nip in the air with the fervour of festivity. From music shows to book fairs, lit meets, winter fairs, and exhibitions – a number of festivals have been going on across the city. Amid this, ace actor Jisshu U Sengupta was spotted enjoying a festival to celebrate the quintessential Bengali dessert – pithe. OTTplay got hold of some photos of the actor enjoying the carnival.
On January 26, Friday, Jisshu attended the Poush Parbon Utsav hosted by Bagha Jatin Tarun Sangha at their Durga Puja ground. According to the onlookers, the Dawshom Awbotaar-actor gorged on pithe – rice dumplings filled with coconut-jaggery stuffing and soaked in aromatic nolen gur, chocolate puli (a variety of pithe), patisapta (crêpe-wrapped coconut-jaggery stuffing, rosh bora (sweet fritters) and what not.
It was not just Jisshu. Young actresses Dimple Acharya, Sayantani Guha Thakurta, celebrity photographer Tathagata Ghosh, and government official Tanmay Ghosh were also spotted at the fest.
Tarun Sangha is known for hosting this festival to celebrate these traditional Bengali seasonal sweets. Earlier, actress Priyanka Sarkar, musicians, Joy Sarkar and Upal Sengupta, and several others were also spotted at this event.
On the other hand, Jisshu Sengupta’s Dawshom Awbotaar will soon be dropped on Hoichoi as its digital premiere. Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film was released during Puja and remained one of the highest-grossers in 2023. The film also features Jaya Ahsan, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and Anirban Bhattacharya. According to reports, Jisshu will be seen in Dev’s upcoming, Khadaan.
