It’s been more than 5-6 years since Kamna Singh was last seen in Kannada cinema. The actress, who played a pivotal role in the Vasishta N Simha and Jaggesh starrer 8mm Bullet, then went on to collaborate with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt on a Hindi web series called Faceless. Just when things were picking up for Kamna in showbiz, she decided to leave it all behind and move to London with her husband.
Unfortunately for Kamna, the relationship was not a bed of roses and despite her best efforts to make it work, she eventually had to call quits on it. “I moved out of the marital home recently and am now trying to get my career up and running again. As a start, I have begun doing small-time modelling gigs in London and am also pursuing a course in fashion styling. The plan is to return to full-fledged acting, for which I have reached out to some of my old contacts in Mumbai and Bengaluru. I was in India recently and had a few meetings that seem promising. I am also looking at tying up with a talent agency in the UK to pursue acting/modelling work there,” she says.
Wouldn’t it be difficult to find work back home if she is based out of London? “I understand the need to be seen and to network in industry circles. As soon as I am able to sign on the dotted line for a project, I will be on the next plane to India and depending on the duration of work and other prospects, I will then decide how long I should remain there. The best scenario, of course, would be if I am able to find work there too, as a lot of Indian movies are shot in the UK,” says Kamna.
