South Indian films like RRR, Baahubali, KGF and Kantara are being celebrated on a national scale, but Pia Bajpiee has known the industry intimately even earlier. She started her career with the 2008 Tamil comedy film Poi Solla Porom.

Now, the actress, who stars in Yami Gautam's Lost, claims that the scene has changed and that signing a South film no longer makes a difference in an actor's career. What matters is with whom one signs it.

Speaking about the popularity of South Indian films, Pia told OTTplay, "Look, not all films create the kind of noise that Baahubali, RRR or even Kantara did. There are thousands of films that are made in the south Indian film industry, just like in the Hindi film industry. So, at the end of the day, if I sign a South Indian film today, what matters the most is with whom I have signed the film. If I sign a South Indian film with a big star, then I can say 'wow', and it will be counted as a big deal. Otherwise, if I'm doing a low-budget South film, I'm the only one who will be saying 'wow' (laughs)."

Pia is known for acting in films like Aegan, Goa, Bale Pandiya, Ko, Masters, Sattam Oru Iruttarai and Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe, among several others. And she has always managed to get positive reviews and critical acclaim for her performances.

Asked about the reaction of her parents to her successful stint in South Indian films, Pia said, "Most of the time, they were not aware of the kind of work that I was doing. At the end of the day, I come from a small town in UP, and we are Hindi-speaking people. My parents knew that I was doing good films, but they did not understand anything, because they don't understand Tamil or Telugu. I haven't seen them enjoying my performance while watching me onscreen."

But all that changed with Lost. "Now, with Lost, I can see them happy. They have watched the film and talked about it," shared the actress.

Lost, directed by the National Award-winning filmmaker Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, also stars Yami Gautam, Pankaj Kapur, Neil Bhoopalam, and Tushar Pandey. It is currently streaming on ZEE5.
