Exclusive! Lust Stories 2's Angad Bedi: Physical compatibility is one of the most important things in a marriage

Since Lust Stories 2 released on Netflix, one segment of the anthology that stars National Award-winning actress Neena Gupta has been receiving polarised responses from critics and audiences. The story of the segment revolves around the physical compatibility of a young couple and the encouragement they get to take a 'test drive' before getting married.

The segment, Made For Each Other, has also been criticised for overtly talking about sexual compatibility and why that's the strength of a long-lasting relationship. What's more, all this is encouraged by a grandmother, played by Neena. 

Asked about the importance of sex compatibility for married couples, actor Angad Bedi, who stars in the series, told OTTplay, "I think sexual compatibility with your partner is one of the most important things in a marriage or in a love relationship. I know many critics have written about Lust Stories 2 and how we have touched upon sexual compatibility. According to me, in a marriage, everything else can be ironed out, but if there is no sexual compatibility, then things get bitter after a certain point. If the sexual energy flows organically between two people in a marriage, then one will be able to tolerate or work around other behaviours or arguments. When you fall for someone, it's usually a result of physical attraction. The rest follows after that. But if you are not physically attracted to the other person, you will not even want to take it to the next level. Even in arranged marriages, people first see photos of each other, which is all about visual appeal. Of course, you may or may not like the person after you meet them, but it always begins with the physical appearance of a person, followed by sexual attraction."

So, what's Angad's response to all the criticism that the anthology has been receiving? "People should watch a film for the sake of entertainment first, because that is the reason we make films. Neenaji's portrayal of the character is amazing, and everything said has been presented with a dash of humour. We have spoken about compatibility in an entertaining manner, and that is why the audience enjoyed the film even if not all critics did. Everyone should understand that we act to entertain the audience first, not necessarily the critics. So I am okay with the criticism, because the audience liked the segment," explained the Soorma actor.

Lust Stories 2 is directed by R Balki and also stars Mrunal Thakur, Kanupriya Pandit, and Hemant Kher. It is available to stream on Netflix.
