Actor Mimoh Chakraborty is quite excited to share screen space with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the upcoming romantic comedy film Jogira Sara Ra Ra, which also stars Neha Sharma. He is playing a funny character in the Kushan Nandy-directed movie. But did you know, Mimoh initially thought that he was removed from the project?

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, the actor said, “I think it is surely one of the biggest opportunities that I have got as an actor - something that I was waiting for the longest period of time. I used to give many auditions, and did one for casting director Jogi a few years ago. So, when the casting for this role came to him, he called me and went through another round of auditions before signing the film. However, we started shooting for the movie in March 2020, and the lockdowns started. Everything just stopped for us.”

According to the actor, the look of his character was very different when they started shooting the film, but during the lockdown, the makers decided to create a new look for the character.

“When the first phase of lockdown got over and everything started opening up, Kushan sir called me at his office. Before I went there, I told my mother that I am assuming that they are removing me from the film, because it has happened in the past so I was mentally prepared for it. However, to my surprise, Kushan sir told me that I am very much working on the film. And then, the team sat together to create a new look for my character. I had a muscular body then, and I had to put on 10 kilos to look the part. Even though that was a challenge for me, I enjoyed it thoroughly,” the actor elaborated.

Despite being the son of legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty, Mimoh said that more often than not since his debut in 2008 with the film Jimmy, he went through a lot of struggle. In fact, although his film Haunted - 3D was a commercial success, he was thrown out of several films later.

“I was kind of immune to this process and here. I will not name those production houses and film directors out of respect, but yes it is true that I was thrown out of films many times. There were times when I was signed up for a film and given advance money. But two days before the shooting started, I was told that I am not part of the film. Yes, I went through a tough time, but I do not want to talk about these things and feel bitter… It is my reality,” Mimoh added.

Jogira Sara Ra Ra - which also features Sanjay Mishra and Nikki Tamboli (in a special appearance) - is all set to release in the theatres on April 12.
