Now that Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham has finally released after a wait of over one-and-a-half years, the focus is on the superstar’s upcoming projects – Bro Daddy, 12th Man, Alone and Monster. While the first two are direct-to-OTT releases, the actor recently spilled the beans on Alone, which is directed by Shaji Kailas, in an exclusive interview with OTTplay.

The movie, scripted by Rajesh Jayaraman, is a single-actor movie with just Mohanlal. While it marks his first collaboration with Shaji Kailas in 12 years, it’s also an experimental venture from the duo who were behind some of the biggest commercial superhits such as Aaraam Thampuran and Narasimham.

On choosing the movie, Mohanlal tells us, “When I heard the story of Alone, I found it very interesting. It doesn’t have too many actors. It’s just me and so, we thought we could take the risk ourselves and produce the film.”

While the superstar stresses that they are yet to take a call on the release platform of the movie, he says, “If we can’t release it in theatres, we can sell it to OTT. The way it’s made and its purpose is intriguing; it’s a great thriller. A lot of other characters come through phone calls. It’s a story that happens during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Mohanlal, meanwhile, is currently shooting for Vysakh’s Monster, which is scripted by Udaykrishna. The trio had earlier worked on the blockbuster Pulimurugan. About their latest venture, the actor says, “It’s again got a different concept that hasn’t been seen a lot in Malayalam. Monster is a crime-thriller but the second half has a lot of unexpected twists.”
