Exclusive! Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway's Anirban Bhattacharya on Bengali vs Hindi film industry: Everyone here talks in English even though...

The movie Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway, with Rani Mukerji in the title character, was released on March 17, 2023. Critics gave the movie a variety of ratings. Apart from Rani, Anirban Bhattacharya, a Bengali actor, makes his Bollywood debut in the movie. Anirban recently had an open conversation on working with Rani Mukerji, the differences between working on Bengali and Hindi films, and much more with OTTplay.

When asked what difference did he see whil working for a Hindi cinema, Anirban said, "Making a film is same. But the difference of infrastucture, it (Hindi) is the biggest audience catering film industry in this country, though Telugu and Tamil industries are also big and now they are just competing but this (Hindi) is the biggest in our country. We at Bangla film industry, it has its own industry, panel of directors but its a small money-making industry so infrastructure wise Bombay is different. Lot of people, everyone is talking to each other in English though they are not even English speaking people. As Hindi is the national language of Hindi cinema (laughs)."

Further sharing his thoughts on working with Rani Mukerji, Anirban said, "Working with Rani was wonderful, and I learned a lot from the experience in every manner. I'm grateful to Ashima and Rani, Emmay Entertainment, and everyone else for giving me the chance to watch her perform. My first schedule in Europe was with a big actress like Rani Mukerji on the first day of rehearsals. She noticed me and started talking with me, breaking the ice with her smile."

Meanwhile, talking about the film, in the movie Rani plays a woman fighting the government to protect her children. The book 'The Journey of a Mother' by Sagarika Chakaraborty served as the inspiration for the movie. Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, directed by Ashima Chibber, also features Neena Gupta, Jim Sarbh. On Friday, the movie opened in theatres.
